Frank S. Ostrander, 81, beloved brother, husband of 53 years, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Sunday December 1, 2013 with his loving family by his side after a long, courageous battle with diabetes. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls on October 13, 1932 and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1950 where he sang in musicals.
Frank served in the U.S. Air Force, attended the University of Akron, was a member of St. Matthew's Church and retired from General Tire in Akron. He was an active member of the community and won several Akron Beautification Awards for creativity in his yard. Aside from watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, he enjoyed basketball, playing cards, golfing, taking his family on vacations and loved music. He was also a loving man that always thought of others before himself and he will be remembered by the many lives he touched. His desire to live gave him the courage to fight gallantly until he was received in Heaven where he will be reunited with loved ones.
Frank is survived by his wife Dolores, daughters; Melanie (Mike) Hart and Tammy Ostrander, sons; Mark and Randall Ostrander, grandchildren; Teague, Cameron, Kylie, Mark, Jr. and Marissa, great-grandchildren; Landyn, Karson and Karter (one on the way), brother George, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruth (Thompson) Ostrander, brother Charles and sister Martha. Frank truly appreciated all the hard work of the doctors and nurses who did their very best.
