Franklin Gilbert Brooks
Franklin Gilbert Brooks, 79, of Akron, passed away at home in accordance with his wishes on April 2, 2013. He was born February 11, 1934 in Shinston, West Virginia. He graduated from Central High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Masonic Wayfarer Lodge and Yusef Khan Grotto. He retired from General Motors Terex Division after 34 years of service.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Lennie and Ina Brooks; brothers, Glen and Billy Brooks. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Fran; children, Lennie, Christine (John), Kevin (Patty), Denise; grandchildren, Kyle, John, LeeAnn; sister-in-law, Peggy Brooks and niece, Kimberly Owens of Florida; beloved pets, Charlie and Heidi. Frank's family wishes to thank all of the staff at Crossroads Hospice for their love and care.
Visitation will be Friday April 5 from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087.
