Together Again
After graduating in 1957 from Archbishop Hoban High School, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 8 years. In January 1965, while cruising the Hungry I Drive-In, in a convertible with the top down, Fred met the love of his life, Nancy. They married November 5, 1966. In 1977, Fred started a 25 year career as an OTR truck driver for Roadway Express and was a proud member of Teamster Local #24. Fred and Nancy were incredibly proud of their family, especially their grandson, Justin. Always up for adventure, Fred loved fishing on Lake Erie, boating, camping, bike riding and attending NASCAR races with Justin. He also loved his weekly strawberry waffles and coffee at the Tallmadge Wally Waffle. Fred never met a person who didn't become a friend. His soft spoken and kind nature never changed throughout his 7 year fight with dementia.
Fred is now reunited with his wife of 55 years, Nancy (DeMastus). He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Amy (John) Stokes, son, Jon (Jena) Kavulla, grandson, Justin (Kimmy) Kavulla, sister, Madelynne (Tom) Horak, many nieces and nephews and special friends Dave and Kathleen Heinbuch and Joe and Missy Francis.
A private service will be held in the spring at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
To honor Fred, do something nice for someone else today.
