Fred Prince Sr.

Fred Prince Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021. He was born July 30, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late Ostalia Prince Sr. and Gertrude Prince. Fred married the love of his life Mary Joyce and they shared 58 long years together. To this union 8 beautiful children were born. He retired from Ford Stamping Plant after 27 years of service.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Ostalia Prince Sr. and Gertrude Prince; wife, Mary Joyce Prince; brothers, Ostalia Jr., Charles, Uzziah, Ronnie and Clarence; and son-in-law, Jason Mason. He leaves to cherish his memories his caregivers, Sharon (daughter), James (son-in-law), Diontay, DeAndre, Dayvon (grandsons), Erica (granddaughter); his junior caregivers, Courtney and Ryleigh (great & great-great granddaughters); his 8 children, Sharon (James) Donald, Joyce Mason, Melvin Prince Sr., Fred Prince Jr. (all of Akron, OH), John Prince Sr. of Seattle, WA, Yvonne (Jerome) May, Lester (Vanessa) Prince, and Barbara (Archie) Smith (all of Tuscaloosa, AL); sisters, Asie Lean Hayes and Velma (Tim) Patton; brothers, Elijah (Joyce) Prince and Claude Prince Sr.; 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Hildra Pippens of Chicago, IL, Bertha Brown and Olivia Standifer of Tuscaloosa, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family will receive guests from 12:00pm - 1:00pm on Friday, May 21 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Akron to follow.
