Frederick G. Williamson

Frederick G. Williamson, 77, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2017. He was born in Akron, OH on August 17, 1939. Fred was a life-long resident of Firestone Park, graduating from Garfield High School in 1957. He graduated from the University of Akron with a B.A. in Education majoring in History. Fred worked at Firestone for 20 years, Meggitt Aircraft Braking for another 20 years as an inspector, and continued as a government contract field inspector for Meggitt. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed reading, and nature.

Fred was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Catherine Williamson; brother, Robert "Bob" Williamson; and grandson, Nathaniel Williamson. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia (Fitch) Williamson; children, Eric Williamson, Andrea (Mark) Williamson, Carol (David) McCurry, Leslie (Michael) Schmeltzer, Sherman Williamson; sister, Carol (Mike) O'Brien; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends are welcome to call on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron, to follow.
