Garda Mae Smith (nee Erickson)
Heaven received the most beautiful Angel on December 24, 2017. Garda Mae Smith, 77, of Green passed away peacefully after a short illness. She will be remembered for her love for family, bingo, playing cards, board game nights and delighting children as "Mrs. Claus" with her husband "Santa" for 32 years. She had a big heart with a personality to match and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Leroy Smith; brothers: Herb Erickson and Rick (Sandy) Erickson; children: Doug (Sue) Gilbert, Tim (Karla) Gilbert, Rickey Gilbert, Jodie Berger, Jeff (Beth) Smith, Shelly (Bryan) Eiseman and Diane Smith; grandchildren: Renee, Mindy, Timmy, Adam, Vincent, Tiffany, Chad, Ashley, Jenna, Michael, Brittany, Heather, Bradley, Rickey, Maegan; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where the Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday at noon. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.
