Garry D. Scherer Sr.

Garry D. Scherer Sr., 68, passed away on June 3, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1954, the son of the late Clifford and Irene Scherer. He was employed for many years as a carpenter and after retirement continued on making beautiful woodwork and building projects. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and much love in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Charlotte Scherer; and 3 sisters.
Garry is survived by his children Evelyn Scherer, Josh Shinn, Joyce (William) Sharpes, Garry (Jennifer) Scherer Jr., Mary Early, and Donald (Melissa) Scherer; 12 grandchildren; 8 siblings; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday (June 14th) from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held on Thursday (June 15th) at 11:00am with Pastor Gary Smith.
Interment will take place at Tallmadge Cemetery.
