Gary "Hey Man" S. Frang, 67, of (Portage Lakes), New Franklin, Ohio, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving companion Bonita Ferracane by his side. Gary was born in Akron, Ohio on January 20, 1950 to Victor and Mildred Frang and resided here his entire life.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1968. In 1969, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1971 as a SPC4. Gary retired from Ohio Edison in 2009 with over 41 years of service. In his younger years, Gary enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, riding his motorcycle and being with his friends and co-workers. Shortly before retirement, he purchased his little slice of Heaven on Portage Lakes, where he would say "I don't need to go anywhere on vacation when I have this in my own front yard." Gary could always be found working in his yard or on his boat, waiting to greet you with a smile and a "hey man!"
Preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Mildred Frang; sister, Claudia Hackett (nee Frang) and niece, Christine Hackett.
He is survived by his companion Bonita Ferracane; niece, Tiffany Cooke; family, Eric (Amber), Eron (Heather) and Amy Shaw (Bill Kirkwood) whom he always considered to be his kids. Also, all of the grandchildren who have always known Gary as their Papa.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends and co-workers. The family would like to give a special thanks to his dear friends Denny and Judy Wilson, Joe Natoli and Ray and Kathy Biglin for their endless love and support.
A celebration of life will take place at Gary's home on the Lakes on June 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to IBH, Haven of Rest or SPCA.
