Gary L. May, age 68, formerly of Canton, OH and the Norton and Wadsworth area since 2002, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Huntington, WV on September 24, 1945 to the late Lawrence and Margie (Kincaid) May.
Gary enjoyed fishing, gardening and growing things both indoors and out and loved to travel. He was a hard working, caring, loving and dependable man. After graduating from Glenwood High School in Canton, Gary enlisted in the US Navy in 1964, serving during Vietnam on the USS Samuel B. Roberts. Gary completed management courses in Chicago, IL with American Management Association and attended Stark Technical College in Canton. He retired in 2001 from Republic Technologies International in Canton.
Gary leaves behind his children; Laura-Lee Steiner, Melissa Shackelford, Holly (Chad) Robinson, Crystal May and Joshua May, beloved friend and confidant of nearly 19 years, Larrell Ritenour, as well as numerous beloved grandchildren and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Charles Steiner. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Rittman, Ohio.
