Gary W. Chenney

Gary W. Chenney, 68, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Gary was born on September 6, 1947 in Washington, Pennsylvania to Albert Guy and Lena J. (Hamilton) Chenney. He graduated from Chartiers-Houston High School in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart Judith (Stevens) Chenney on August 20,1966 and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They had 2 children, Wendy and Wayne and were blessed with 2 grandsons,1 granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter. He was an avid NASCAR, Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Gary loved spending time with his family and friends. He previously worked at the former Davey Compressor Company in Kent OH and is believed to have been the youngest president of an AFL - CIO local union there in the early 70's. Gary work at Buckeye Fence Co, Holland Oil Co and various locations of the B&C group in Barberton, OH throughout his working career. He was a member of the Greater Beneficial Union of Pittsburgh.

He is preceded in death by his Grandparents; parents Albert Guy and Lena J. Chenney; son, Guy Wayne Chenney; sister, Deborah Chenney; in-laws, Harry and Ethel Stevens, Harry Jr. and William Stevens, Delores (Stevens) Walko, Fred Kuech and various beloved aunts, uncles and family.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Judith Chenney; daughter, Wendy (Brent) Kuhl; grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Talmon, Kassidy McHan, Aaron Kuhl; great granddaughter, Bailee Talmon; sister, Linda (Larry) Terminato; brother, Harold (Jill) Chenney; adopted sister, Michelle "Mickie" (Vince) Hamborsky; various aunts, uncles, family and friends who will miss Gary dearly.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens,4724 State Rd. Peninsula, OH 44264.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in Gary's honor.
