Gary K. Walleen

Gary K. Walleen, 71, of Akron, passed away on December 30, 2020. Gary was born in Benson, MN on January 22, 1949 to the late Milton and Agnes Walleen. Gary proudly served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Akron Dispersions after over 20 years of service. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. In his younger years, Gary was an avid bowler and a member of several local clubs. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Loretta. He was a quiet person but could tell a good story when he was in the mood.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; sister, Sharon Mason; best friend, Pete Ponos; and his beloved dog, Shadow. Gary will be dearly missed by his siblings, Mike (Liz) Walleen, Wendy (Lennie) Shepherd, and Brian (Patty) Walleen; stepsons, Bob (Sandy) Jarvis and Jason (Kim) Jarvis; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 12:30-1:30 followed by a 1:30 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Robert W. Tauscher Jr. officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
