Gaynelle Frances Pidcoe, age 85, died February 6, 2013. She was born October 24, 1927 in Wehrum, PA to the late Robert I. and Blanche E. (Kuchenbrod) Pidcoe. After graduating from Canton (PA) High School in 1945, she moved to Akron and was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until her retirement in 1986. Gay was an active member of the Family of Faith United Methodist Church and assisted in many church programs, most notably, the church's Free Lunch program. She was an accomplished artisan with a collection of doll houses that she made and furnished always with her hand made items.
Surviving are her brothers, Robert Pidcoe of Muncy Valley, PA and Paul Pidcoe of Canton, PA; sisters, Janet Pidcoe of Akron, Gladys Pidcoe of Canton, PA and Linda Shears of Lakeville, OH; cousins, nieces, nephews and good friend, Nancy Cunningham. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maida (Robert) Chaney of Millersburg.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Final resting place will be at Beech Flats Cemetery, Canton, PA. Donations may be made to the Family of Faith UMC for their Free Lunch Program.
