Gene D. Barron, 76, passed away on January 17, 2008. He was born in Walker County, Alabama on March 19, 1931 to the late Dewey and Minnie Barron. He retired from Seigferth Co. after more than 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jane; son Dennis; granddaughter Angela Pumphrey; and stepdaughter Linda Kinney. Survivors include daughter Vickie (John) Fillinger, of Akron; son Kenneth, of Idaho; son-in-law Gene Kinney, of Florida; sisters Earlean (Norm) Harrold, of Akron and Mona (Fred) Hoppstock, of Barberton; brothers Earl, of Columbus and Tim (Lois), of Streetsboro; grandchildren Tori Lynn (Nick) Saraniti, Nicole (Tony) Tilson, and Craig Pumphrey; step-grandchildren Joshua and Jonathan Fillinger; great-grandchildren Linda Saraniti and Micole Tilson; step-great-grandchild Steven Fillinger. Calling hours will be Sunday, 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown.
