Gene H. Christenson, 72, of Suffield Township, passed away on October 11, 2006 at Akron City Hospital. He was an avid collector of movies especially the ones John Wayne starred in. He also collected coins in his spare time. Gene was a Navy veteran who was stationed on a submarine during mostly peacetime. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Steffee of Suffield Twp. and his brother, Norman Christenson (Geri) of Connecticut. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Robert Carr, Jr. who took care of Gene for several years of his illness. Funeral services will he held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron on Friday, October 13 at 7 pm. Family will receive friends from 5 pm until the service begins. Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogagore. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Country Place in Cuyahoga Falls and Akron City Hospital for their care of Gene.
