Gene Dewitt Bland
Gene Dewitt Bland went home very peacefully to be with Jesus on October 14, 2005. Gene was a professional musician all of his life and had attended Juilliard School of Music at the beginning of his career. Gene was a very popular and well-known pianist both locally and in many of the upscale dining and entertainment clubs and equally in several other states. Gene loved his music and could play anything from Country to Jazz, favoring George Shearing and Stan Kenton styles. Gene was a loving and very generous person who would literally "give you the shirt off his back"! He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his only son, Gene Terry Bland, special companion and caregiver Dorothy Neitz, sister Anice Ruth Morgan, brother Paul F. Bland, brother John T. and his wife Lynda L. Bland, who was instrumental in leading him to the Lord, Nephews Brett A. and Scott J. Bland who were a great help to him in the past few years and Niece Mindy L. Cheatham of West Chester, Ohio. He was a true piano man who always played with total passion. As the song says,
"Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Cause were all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling Allright"
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, October 21, 2005, at the Southeast Church Of The Nazarene located at 771 Dunbar Rd., Tallmadge, Ohio 44278. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 330-784-3334.
