Gene E. Burdeshaw, 79, of Akron, passed away January 25, 2011. He was born in Akron on December 16, 1931 to the late Carey and Eula Burdeshaw. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will always be remembered as the best dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He also loved yard sales and auctions. Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Daniel and sister, Helen Francis. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doris; children, Denise "Dennie", Michelle "Micki", Jon, and Scott Burdeshaw and Kathleen "Kathy" (Tommy) Tanner; sister, JoAnn Miner; grandchildren, Joshua (Allison) Burdeshaw, Kori Jenkins, Christopher, Shawn, and Katie Tanner, Baili, Paisli, McKayli, Kortni, and Luke Burdeshaw; great-grandchildren, Karsten, Eva, and Juliana Burdeshaw, and Sophia Jenkins; many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Nancy Conley officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. If desired, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
