Gene A. Sayre, 81, passed away January 15, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Akron, Ohio to Earl and Eupha (Mace) Sayre, he was a lifelong area resident. Gene retired from Akron General Medical Center after 43 years of service. He belonged to the Local 1014L. Gene was a member of Greensburg Church of God. He was an avid Ohio sports fan who enjoyed bowling, golf, mowing lawns for family and friends, collecting hot wheels, coins, stamps and sports memorabilia. Gene always loved spending time with his family, especially at Cleveland Indians baseball games.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Earlene Cave, Earl Sayre, Jr.; grandchildren, Jade Marie Beiter, Isaac (Ozmun) Moles. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 34 years, Rosemary; daughters, Paula Beiter (Ken Howard), Stephanie (Dominic) Dasco, Corina (Scott) Moles, Judy (Joey) Secord, Amy (Joe) Catalanotto; grandchildren, David Beiter, Ashley Beiter, Abby Beiter, Tyler Disbennett, Jaykob Dasco, John Dasco, Sierra Moles, Lucas Moles, Collin Dunn, Elaina Secord, Dustin Brown, Dylan Brown, Daniel Brown; great grandchildren, Jade Marie Disbennett, Liam Semai, Levi Dunn, Cameron Brown; siblings, Kenneth Sayre, Gloria Ertel; canine companion, Zeus; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. and also Wednesday, January, 20th from 12 to 1 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Road. The funeral service will take place Wednesday immediately following the visitation, with Pastor David Cross officiating. Due to Covid 19 concerns please expect to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Gene's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
