Genevieve A. Hanlon
March 24, 1933 — January 4, 2023
Genevieve A. Hanlon, 89, passed away on January 4, 2023 at Arbors at Stow. A lifelong resident of the Akron area, she was born on March 24, 1933 to the late Harley and Loretta {Blaser} Harland.
In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughan Hanlon, brothers Kenneth and Francis Harland and sister Joanne {Harland} Pryor.
Genevieve is survived by her loving daughter, Susan (Timothy) Strebler; sons Rick (Debbie) Hanlon, Greg (May) Hanlon and James (Adrienne) Hanlon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Bernard (Marge) Harland; sister Mary Louise Wohlwend.
Genevieve's life was devoted to her family and her religion. She enjoyed reading, gardening and birds.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 with Father Peter Colletti officiating. Genevieve will be laid to rest privately next to Vaughan at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or at: Catholic Charities, 2050 Ballenger Ave, Suite 400, Alexandria, VA 22314 .
