George B. Moye, Sr.
George "Joe" B. Moye, Sr., born October 10, 1936 in Akron, Ohio, passed away at the age of 72 on May 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army for seven years serving in Korea, Panama, and Germany. He worked many years in the construction trade. Joe loved being with his family and friends where he would make them laugh and cook his wonderful meals for them. Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alberta Moye; and brothers, Ralph Jr., and Cliff. Joe is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Hinkle; daughters, Lisa (Larry) Vavak, Gloria (Danny) Almada and Judy (George) Freeman; sons, George (Lottie) Moye, Jr., Ed (Meagan) Moye and Steve Moye; step-children, Vickie (Chris) Motz, Terry (Cheryl) Hinkle and John (Shelli) Hinkle; 21 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Caycee, Konner, Preston, Trevor and Tommy; siblings, Kenny Moye, Charles (Claire) Moye, Jimmy (Chris) Moye and Frances Koger; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Frisbee officiating.
