George Goodman, 78, passed away peacefully at VNS Hospice on July 10, 2005. Born in Yukon, West Virginia, he is survived by Stacil, his loving wife of 52 years. He is also survived by son Dale (Margaret) Goodman, daughter Nancy (Russell) Gregory, sister Thelma (Burb) Vance, brothers Harold (Geneva) Goodman and Roland (June) Goodman, sister-in-law Eva Goodman, brother-in-law Joe Wimmer and grandchildren James Goodman, Jessica Goodman, Allison (Steve) Parsons, Amy Gregory, Amanda Gregory, Robert (Christen) Warman and Shannon (Joel) Jenkins and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Lillie Belle (Keene) Goodman and by nine brothers and sisters. George served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the Korean War as a member of the Army 2nd Infantry Division 23rd Regiment. He retired from the Ford Walton Hills Stamping Plant with 28 years of service. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to friends and the members of Brown Street Church of Christ for their support. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 13 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. in Akron. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at Brown Street Church of Christ, 1835 Brown St., Akron, with Mr. Ron Mayfield officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
