George W. Hammelman, 98, passed away August 9, 2023 with some of his family by his side. Born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 2, 1925, he resided in Tiffin, Ohio for 7 years and later resided in the Akron area all of his adult life. George was a U. S. Army Air Corps Veteran and a member of Teamsters Local #24. He enjoyed Ohio State football games and attended 525 Green High School football games. He loved bowling, gardening, lawn work and talking about his childhood days at the Junior Order (orphanage) Home in Tiffin, Ohio. George was always in the stands cheering on his grandsons at their many sporting events.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Null); son, Jeff; sister, Trudy Fowler. He will be sadly missed by his children, Greg (Martha), Cherie Rawling, Tina Hill; daughter-in-law, Bev Hammelman; grandchildren, Kristy, Ashley, Jeffrey (Angela), Ben, Steve; great grandchildren, Josh, Brooke, Ryder, Lana; great great granddaughter, Cheyenne.

Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Please feel free to wear Ohio State colors. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Kernan Memorial Scholarship via Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio or to the Seneca County Museum in Tiffin.
