George E. Powell

George E. Powell, 70, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2018. George was born on May 8, 1948 in Akron, Ohio to the late James and Dorothy Powell. He grew up in Akron and graduated from Ellet High School. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. George loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Powell; and son, James Powell.

Left to cherish George's memory is his son, Michael (Melissa) Powell; step-son, Larry Legg; step-daughter, Mylissa (Jeff) Soisson; siblings, Lee Delgaudio, Charlotte Powell, Walter (Debbie) Powell, and Mary Hardesty; sister-in-law, Libby Curry; brother-in-law, Randy Fazenbaker; grandchildren, Timmy, Christopher, Haley, Lacy, Logan, Bailee, Allan, Drew, and Dylan; great-grandson, Christopher; and nieces and nephews, Richie, Melissa, Jessica, David, and Ashley (Ryan).

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, to visit on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 3pm until the time of service at 5pm. Inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
