George Ross, age 79 of Akron, Ohio, passed away in the loving arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
He was born on May 5, 1937 in Akron, the son of the late James and Hilda Ross.
George was an honorably discharged US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a planner at GoodYear Aerospace for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Ross enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and the beach. He loved, most of all, spending time with his family, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa that will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife, the former Judith "Judy" Brislinger, whom he married on May 10, 1958; his two children, Cindy Moore and David Ross; he was the best grandpa ever to two, Sarah (David) Buterbaugh and Christopher Moore and great-grandfather of Adalynn Buterbaugh. One sister also survives, Olga Vanchoff.
Other than his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Ross.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at 1 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Pastor Don Rohrbacher will celebrate George's life.
