George S. Lancaster

George Stanley Lancaster
George Lancaster, age 88, of Akron, Ohio passed away, peacefully in his home on January 11, 2015.George is survived by his loving wife of 68 years; Nagene, brother; Jack (Joyce) Lancaster, son; Jerry (Linda) Lancaster, daughter; Brenda (Jeff) Texter, grandchildren; Dawn (Mac) Settipani, Kristy (Jim) Ward, Jason (Renee) Lancaster and great grandchildren; Naomi Lancaster, Wyatt Lancaster, Bethany Ward, Mackenzie Ward, and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his son; Richard Lancaster, his parents; Herman Otto and Madie Oliver Lancaster, as well as many loving siblings.
George moved to Akron from Hundred, West Virginia at age 17. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber until he retired after 44 years of service. George was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served overseas for 2 years during WWII. George enjoyed watching Nascar and the Cleveland Indians. He loved the outdoors, spending countless hours working in his yard and relaxing on the porch. George always made himself available to inspect any projects going on around the neighborhood. He was very independent, strong-willed, and protective of those he loved. George will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2015 at 5:00 pm at Springfield Baptist Church: 1920 Krumroy Rd
Akron, Ohio. Friends may visit with the family at 4:00 pm until the time of the service.
