George Thomas Strunk, 83, of Stow, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2013. He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky on May 29, 1930 to the late Edgar and Edith Strunk. George proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Village of Hudson after a 30 year career. In his free time, George could be found enjoying the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and simply walking in the woods.
He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Strunk; daughter, Leslie Craemer; brothers, Eugene, Chester, and Kenneth; and sister, Gertrude. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Hannah; children, Katie Sue (Joe) Keene, George "Buddy" (Kaye), Lindell M. (Cyndi), and Robert D. (Cheryl) Strunk; brother, Ralph Strunk; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday October 10 from 4-6 followed by a 6 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron. Private burial at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
