George W. Greene, age 69, a loving and adoring husband to his darling wife, "Leroy" Mandy Greene after a short battle with cancer went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sepetember 3, 2007 with his wife by his side. He was born in Wilkes County, NC on June 6, 1938 to the late Ernest and Irene (Foster) Greene. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Russel Watson. He is survived by his wife, Mandy Greene, whom he loved deeply; step-daughter, Tami Hennacy; grandson, Jerry Hennacy and granddaughter, Racheal Hennacy who was very special to him and he called "My wild child"; sisters, Barbara (Bill) Hochstetler and Ruby (Pete) McDanield, many nieces, nephews and one great-nephew. George retired as a welder from Wrayco Industries where he had many friends who he called his "buddies". He was a member of Marlboro Assembly of God. He loved to go cruisin' in his "66" Ford Truck with his wife and all the wonderful friends he met along the way. He won many awards and was featured in the Ford Truck Super Nationals in Tennessee. His legacy is the love and devotion of his family and friends. His laughter and love of life that will be greatly missed as he was truly a precious gift of life. Above all, through his thoughtful actions and loving words, he defined the true meaning of a devoted husband. Graveside services for family and all friends will be held Thursday, September 6 at 2 pm at his final resting place, East Akron Cemetery, 1135 E Market St., Akron, OH 44305 with Pastor Dave Hohlbaugh officiating.
