Georgia E. Abbott

Georgia E. Abbott, 87, of Akron, passed away April 27, 2008 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1920 in Hanover, Pennsylvania to the late Arthur & Annie (Stanyard) Yoho. Georgia worked at O'Neil's Department Store in the Georgian Tea Room before retiring with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Akron Club of the Deaf, Canton Silent Club and the Columbus Senior Citizens Center of the Deaf. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Abbott; 2 brothers and 4 sisters; son-in-law, Dale Efferson; companion, Joseph Klapka; and her dog, Fluffy, whom she loved very much. Georgia is survived by her daughters, Nancy Sue Efferson and Betty Lou Gee (Ted); grandchildren, Carolyn (Paul) Schmitt, James (Nanette) Efferson, David Efferson, Christine (Lawrence) Kellar, Jacqueline Gee, Terence Gee, Beverly (Jeff) Wittmann and Agnes Efferson; great-grandchildren, Leah Efferson, Christopher Schmitt, Aimee Efferson, Brandon Gee, Austinn Wittman and Benjamin Kellar. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Darwin Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
