Gerald Don Walters

Gerald Don "Jerry" Walters , age 52, of Akron, OH passed away on September 12, 2013. He was born on October 28, 1960 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, beloved son of Jean (nee Chappelear) Walters Schlupe and the late Thomas Walters, Sr. Jerry worked as an independent contractor in the Akron area. He was a free spirit with a caring heart who always did things his way. "...the record shows I took the blows and did it my way..."

Jerry is survived by his mother, Jean, 3 sons; Alex, Sam and Bill Walters and their mother, Rebecca, brothers; Tom and Danny Walters and Jim (Cheryle) Doak, sisters; Pat Mazzagatti, Bonnie (Janean) Walters Daugherty and Kathi Walters Nutter, grandfather, Eldon Hoover, uncle, Don (Cathy) Chappelear, aunt, Lee Ann (Richard) Schwarz and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, William Walters and stepfather, Charles "Red" Hayden. The family wishes to thank their special friends who have expressed their support during this difficult time.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm following visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Walters Memorial Fund through any First Merit Bank.
