Gerald L. Hinkle, Sr.
Gerald L. Hinkle, Sr., 74, went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. He was born in Akron, OH on May 12, 1934 to the late Thomas and Catherine Hinkle. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Masons Joppa Lodge. Gerald retired from Ford Motor Co. after 43 years of service and loved his two black cats Bentley and Blackie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Mary F. Hinkle; brother Thomas J. Hinkle; and stepbrothers Harry and Don Burchett. Survivors include his beloved wife Icie, of 56 years; daughters Linda (Tim) Essex and Kim Kares (Richard); sons Jerry and Tom Hinkle; grandchildren Misty Essex (Scott), Mallory, Joshua, Daniel, and Gregory Hinkle, Andrea Brooks (Sean) and David "Moe" Haganbaugh, Jr.; stepsister Lenora (Don) Weller; stepbrother Larry (Sybil) Burchett; sister-in-law Shirley Hinkle; sister-in-law Verdell (Everett) Nail; other children Linda Horne, Rita Hildebrandt, and Tony Doering. Calling hours will be TODAY, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
