Gerald E. Lenington "Jerry"

Gerald E. Lenington "Jerry", 59, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side after fighting a courageous battle on October 16, 2006. He was born October 18, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. Jerry received a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam and later retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 35 years of service. He worked part-time at Firestone Country Club and was a member of the Mogadore Moose. He is survived by his mother, Frances Pittman (Jim); father, Lowell Lenington (Opal); daughters, Julie Lenington (Steven), Lorie Lenington (Scotty); son, Jerry Lenington, Jr. (Kristin); grandchildren who meant the world to him, Tyler, Emmie and Jordan; sisters, Sheila Hrubovcak, Judy Rutherford (Mike); half-sister, Karen Lenington; loving companion, JoAnn Denious and her children, Kolton and Kayla; numerous aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews; mother of his children, Betty Lenington. Family and friends may call Thursday from 3 - 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. concluding with a service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Ellis officiating.
