Gerald T. "Jerry" Oakes
Gerald T. "Jerry" Oakes, 76, of Brimfield, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away quietly on Thursday, June 18 after a short but fierce battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Terry and brothers, Robert and Glen Oakes. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Henry-Oakes; brother, Roger (Louise) Oakes; sister, Faye Perry of Tennessee; his children, Mark (Sue) Oakes, Gerri (Eric) Harris, Kathie (John) Rea, Brian Oakes, Shellie Dolly, Teri (Ray) Barry and Marcie (Guy) Fogel; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In loving remembrance of Janet A. Rennie Oakes. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with Pastor Earl Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Saturday until the service begins. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333. He will be sorely missed as he enters the huge fishing lake with the Lord by his side.
