Gerald Warren Edwards "Jerry"
Jerry Edwards, 70, of Akron, passed away March 3, 2012. He was born in Akron on September 12, 1941 to the late Warren and Lois Edwards. Jerry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He spent one year employed at the City of Akron Water Department and then retired from the Akron Police Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Mogadore VFW, the FOP Lodge 7, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. In his free time, Jerry could be found fishing or supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda; sons, Gerald, Richard (Ann-Marie), and Randy (Antoinette); grandchildren, Megan, Brandon, Randy Jr., Mark, and Matthew; and many other relatives and friends, including his fishing buddies, Bill Lewis, John Harwell, and Gary Lucas. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 6 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Bob Denton officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mogadore VFW, 385 Randolph Rd., Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
