Geraldine Krager

Geraldine "Jerry" Krager (Barclay) 91, passed away on March 11, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born June 18, 1926 in Akron, OH to the late Andrew and Jeannette Barclay. The heart of her family, Jerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Jerry worked for the M. O'Neil Co. as a gift wrapper and spent many years at Monarch Teledyne Rubber Co.

A proud supporter of our country's veterans, Jerry was a life member of the Mogadore Auxiliary VFW. As a member she spent many years of her time helping our veterans, serving as the President of the Mogadore Auxiliary and VFW Portage County Council. Jerry enjoyed spending time with our veterans at the former VA Hospital in Brecksville. Jerry was also a member of the Mogadore W.O.T.M. where she served on various chairs.

In addition to her parents, Jerry was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 70 years, Howard Krager; sister, Jean Ice; brother, Jack Barclay; grandson, Philip Abood; son in-law, Melvin Garretson; niece, Diane O'Neal; great-grandchildren; Tyler McHenry and Samantha Sugden. She will be forever missed by sons, Jack (Faye), Buzz (Becky), Don (Theresa), Jeff (Patty); daughters, Carol Garretson and Kelly (Gary) Nellis; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister in-law, Mary Ann Barclay; nieces, Susie and Karen; and nephew, Jack.

Family will receive friends on Thursday March 15, 2018 from 5-7pm and the funeral service will be held on Friday March 16, 2018 at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, Oh 44305. Pastor Robert W. Tauscher Jr. officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mogadore VFW, Hospice of VNS or Concordia Lutheran Church in Akron.
