George Washington Kosier, Jr.
George Washington Kosier, Jr., age 88, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on June 25, 2007, after a brief illness with colon cancer. He attended Betty Jane grade school and Howard Trade Vocational school, learning carpentry and mechanics. He resided in Lakemore, OH for 38 years, moving to Byesville, OH to be cared for by his daughter Georgia and son-in-law Kurt for the last year. He retired at age 67 as a self-employed mechanic at Dave's Garage in Mogadore, OH. He was also employed by Hopp Pontiac in Kent, OH, winning an award for outstanding front-end alignment person. He worked at Arnett's Miracle Mart and Burt Greenwald garages. He was an honorably discharged World War II veteran. A family-oriented man and avid photographer, making each of his four daughters a video of their families growing up. He spent countless hours in his photographer's bedroom studio splicing and assembling. He loved his dog, Chance, and taught him many tricks. His one and only love, Marian, preceded him in death in 1987 after 46 years of marriage. Three daughters, Diana, Patricia, and Sandra; parents George, Sr. and Ida; sons-in-law Michael John Menhorn and Robert Rose, Sr., also preceded him. He is the last and oldest child of six to die. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Sharon (fiancée' Russ) Sharp, Georgia (Kurt) Seymour, and Sheila Menhorn; grandchildren Lori (Frank) Blosser, Barry (Julie) Hiner, Kathleen (fiancée Tony) Schellenberger, Michael (Erin) Schellenberger, Robert (Shelly) Rose, Jr., Shellie (Brian) Farrance, William (Christina) Lowry, Bryon (Geraldine) Lowry, Matthew (Misty) Sivert, and Kristin Menhorn; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren about to be born; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation TODAY, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH. Funeral service Thursday, 2 p.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Phil Hulgin officiating.
