Gertrude E. Keusgen
Gertrude E. Keusgen, 84, died January 3, 2005. Preceded in death by parents Joseph and Mary (Geilen) Keusgen, brother Joe Keusgen, and sisters Mary Lappin, Bea Hartz, Betty Riggs and Kate Lappin. Gert graduated from North High School in 1938 and began working at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. where she was employed for 40 years. She was among the first women to be in the UAW and was a member of Local 856. Gertrude loved hiking and spent much time with her father Joe Keusgen walking the Metro Parks. She and her sister Betty traveled extensively and particularly enjoyed visits to Europe. She was always generous with her family and enjoyed her many friends at Patterson Park. Because of declining health Gertrude went to live at Copley Health Center and be closer to her sister Mary who was also a resident there. She and Mary enjoyed that time together. Gertrude is survived by sister Bernadette (Johnny) Griffith, sister-in-law Evelyn Keusgen, nephew and advocate Marty (Kathi Jo) Lappin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place.
