Trudy Meckler, 87 years old, passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
She was born on October 13, 1935 in North Adams, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Hendrica Vergunst.
She graduated from Drury High School in 1953. She came to Akron and graduated in 1954 from Gerber Beauty School of Cosmetology.
Trudy met the love of her life, Joe, her "Mr. Wonderful", and was married in 1956, and had 57 cherished years together.
Trudy was a lifelong member of the Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her children, Gayle (Michael) Strzelecki, Joe (Monica) Meckler Jr, Jeff (Cara) Meckler and Cheryl Breusch; and her special cousin, Anke Myers; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM, where Pastor Donald Davies will celebrate Trudy's life.
Burial of her cremated remains will be laid to rest, alongside her husband, in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Trudy's memory.
