Gertrude J. Welton

Gertrude J. "Jean" Welton, 96, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2024. Born in Waverly, OH to Maywood and Polly (Starnes) Owens, she resided in Mogadore, OH most of her adult life. She retired from the Fred W. Albrecht Company after 31 years of service. Jean belonged to the Red Hat Society as well as the Mogadore Merrymakers. She enjoyed her home, gardening, traveling with cousins and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Francis "Fran" Welton; siblings, Ona Jaynes, Kelly Owens, Howard Owens, Sally Eblin, Maude Sherman, Claude Owens, Ruby Dever, Roy Owens. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Sandy (Greg) Hale, Jackie (Bob) Armsey; grandchildren, Jennifer (Glenn) Robertson, Michelle (Chris) Contos, Julie (Scott) Gilbert, Denise Cox, Aaron (Sarah) Hale; great grandchildren, Tanner, Emily, Jude, Ella, Anna, Beckett, Audrey; sister, Loretta Hipply; many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank Ohio Living Hospice for their loving care of Jean.

The family will have a celebration of Jean's life at a later date. For those who wish, please consider a memorial donation to assist with granddaughter Sarah Hale's medical obligations, something that Jean was always deeply concerned about.
