Gifford Blaine Menteer

Gifford Blaine "Butch" Menteer, 81, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024. Born in Brookfield, PA to Gifford and Louise (Peters) Menteer, he resided in the Akron, OH area most of his adult life. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after 28 years of service. Butch enjoyed his motorcycle, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Menteer. Butch will be sadly missed by his wife, Barb; children, Bill (Janet) Menteer, Brandy Menteer, Michael Menteer (Casey), Jason (Jen) Menteer, Tracy Hetrick; step-son, David (Kim) Harris; several grandchildren; siblings, Gary Menteer, Barbara Campbell; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Butch's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice.
