Gilbert "RED" Saffles
Gilbert "RED" Saffles, born March 5, 1933, passed away suddenly Monday, Feb. 13th, 2006. Red left behind a wife of 42 years, Dr. Josephine Aronica, who will miss him dearly. Other family members left behind include his former wife, Charlotte Saffles; son, Robert (Rachell) Saffles; daughters, Sharon (Bob) Lingo, Diane (Dave) Bacon, Joyce (Rick) Parson; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Wilson of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Every person he met seemed to be his friend and there are so many who will miss him, including his dear friend, Jan Mook and her family, best friend Max Hoffman, and Joey Tkalcic. He precedes in death his brothers, Oscar and Richard Saffles; sister, Jean Buckley; mother, Sally and father, Wm. Thomas Saffles. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dr. Josephine Aronica at 1867 W. Market St., Akron OH 44313. Friends may call at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron on Friday, February 17th from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 19th from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4444 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls.
