Gladys Mae Lyons

Gladys Mae Lyons, 89, ended her journey on earth and walked into the loving arms of her heavenly father Sunday, June 5th 2022 at Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center with her children by her side.
Gladys was born April 17th, 1933 in Parkersburg WV., to Harley and Gula Moore. Gladys loved her family and was one of 11 children. Gladys also was a woman of faith and loved her church, Millheim Baptist Church. Greeted by her family and friends she will start her new journey surrounded by love in her glorious new home.
Gladys married Jack Lyons in 1949 and they moved to Akron in 1953 to pursue a career and start a family. Jack worked in the rubber industry and Gladys worked odd jobs while raising her children until she started a career at Akron General Medical Center.
Gladys retired from Akron General Medical Center in 1995 and did volunteer work after retirement at Millheim Baptist Church. Gladys also enjoyed sharing her spiritual journey with other family members and spending time with her many grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her children, Randal, Rebecca (Joe) and David (Debra); 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne; brother, Carl and sister-in-law, Josephine; sister-in-law, Joan and sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Jimmy".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her grandson, Jeremy.
Gladys will especially be remembered for the many joys she gave to all, her grace, strength, faith and all the love that she provided.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. followed by a 12 noon funeral service with Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312.
