Gladys Lee Montgomery
Gladys Lee Montgomery, 79, passed away on November 19, 2007 and is now in the hands of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Gladys was born in West Virginia on November 4, 1928. She was raised in Hinton, WV where she met her husband, John David Montgomery. She lived most of her life in Akron. Gladys was a loving wife and mother who raised ten children. Gladys loved to cook and she was an excellent one. Her career was as a head cook/chef in many fine restaurants in Akron. She worked for several Holiday Ins, Embers, Martini's, Sons of Herman, Diana Kimberly's and also catered for the Rev. Rex Humbard at his home in the 1970's. Preceded in death by her loving husband John David Montgomery in 1991; mother Victoria Lumadue; sons John David and Robert Norman. She is survived by daughters Mary Duncan, Lynda (Dennis) Shankle, Wanda Redovian, Joann (Marion) Mitchell, Jeanie (Marvin) McClung; sons Clayton M. (Kathy) , Lewis, Larry (Jill); brother-in-law Lewis Montgomery; sister-in-law Dorothy "Dot" Montgomery; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., Pastor Michael LeMay officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
