Glen R Johnston I
Born October 22, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to Harry and Dorothy (nee Finnegan). Brothers and sisters preceding him in death include Donald, Dick, Clark, and Barbara. He is survived by daughters, Kelly Whitt, Debbie Riley (Steve), Denise Fioritto (Mark) and his son, Glen Johnston II (Tina), and his grandchildren, Christina Soltis (Matt), Stephen Whitt (Maddy), Tracy Fussell, Dillon Fussell, Meagan Zender (Brandon), Erin Kaye, Jacob Saxon, Kelsey Johnston, and Joshua Martinez (Megan).
Glen worked for Canteen Corporation in Buffalo, New York and retired in 1985 when he moved back to Akron to be with his family. His love for his family was evident by the numerous photos and memories he displayed proudly throughout his home.
Glen loved to have fun and laugh with his family and his friends. Some of his favorite things in life were his dog Daisy, his friends at Jonkos, and anything sports related. If anyone was in need of a sports trivia partner, Glen was the guy to turn to.
He loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He talked about them often and loved meeting the newest additions to the family. The babies always made him smile. He often tried to make them feel special with a memento of some sort or a handwritten note.
His friends at Jonko's were like his family. Each one had a special place in his heart.
He fought these last couple of months to live and wanted to spend time with his family. He spoke often and fondly of his closest friends and he wanted them to remember him as he was before he began this battle.
Anyone who knew Glen knows how he loved an ice-cold beer, a ball game, and time with those he loved.
Here's to you Dad, CHEERS!
