Glenn A. "Allen" Baker, 84, passed away January 27, 2021 with his family by his side.
Born in Duncanwood, Ohio to Glenn and Mary (Chesla) Baker. Allen was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School class of 1953 and a 1968 graduate of Kent State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky during which time he met lifelong friends, Haynes and Jeanie Routt. He retired from the University of Akron Computer Center with 25 years service and after his retirement lived in Florida and Georgia returning to Ohio in 2007. He enjoyed golf, golf and more golf, especially trips to Callaway Gardens with Richard, Larry and Russ and 18 holes with the S.L.U.G.S. at Killearn Country Club; family vacations in Myrtle Beach and Ohio State football. Once, while hospitalized, the nurses said they could tell how the game was progressing by watching his heart monitor.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard and the love of his life, his mini dachshund, Digger. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Lory, son, Jeff, siblings, Larry (Betty) Baker of Greensboro, NC, Brenda (Tom) Schneider of Murrells Inlet, SC and Mary Ann (Lew) McCreary. of Galloway, OH.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Absolute Hospice for their prompt response 24/7 especially Cheryl and Tara who made spending his last days at home possible.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will hold a graveside service at a future date.
