Glenn D. "Bud" Kerr
Glenn D. "Bud" Kerr, 74, passed away on January 3, 2006, after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Akron, OH on July 1, 1931 and moved with his wife Jean to The Villages, FL in 2003. Glenn was a 17-year heart transplant recipient. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. where he worked as a Machine Designer. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the US Navy aboard the USS Hyman DD 732 and was a 48 year member of Masonic Lodge, National #568 in Barberton. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Daniel and Alice Kerr Erickson and his sister Elizabeth Stahl. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Reatha "Jean"; daughters Kimberly Baker, of Chanhassen, MN, Cynthia (Craig ) Dillworth, of Severn, MD, Shelly Hancock, of Stow, OH, and Tami Pownell, of N. Canton, OH; grandchildren Kelly (Peter) Utke, Daniel Baker, Nichole (Keith) Jeffcoat, Brooke (Adam) VanMeter, Krista Hancock, Michael Hancock, Sara Pownell, and Justin Pownell; great-grandson David Jeffcoat; brothers Eugene (Gladys) Kerr, Harold Kerr, and Clifford (Delores) Kerr; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-4 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service immediately following at 4 p.m. Cremation will follow.
