Gloria Jean Szakal, went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2005. She was born May 19, 1945 in Ravenna, Ohio and was a life-long resident of Akron. Gloria was a graduate of Central High School. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a very helpful person to anyone in need. Gloria is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bob Szakal; sons, Dan (Pam), Rob (Stacy), Tim (Trina), John (Angela); father, Archie; brothers, Larry (Carol) Watson, Roger (Bobbi) Watson, Harold (Patrice) Watson and very special sitster, Eva (Terry) Shaw. She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Szakal; birth father, Rolland Watson; mother, Gladys White; and brother, Gerald Watson. Gloria leaves behind six grandchildren, Christy, Kayla, Timothy Jr., Tawni, Dominic and her youngest grandchild, 3 week old Marissa; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Hulgin officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The Szakal family would like to send a special thank you to the men and women at Hospice, Diane, Louise, Vicki, Leslie and Jim for their wonderful care of Gloria and support of the family.
