Gordon Healy Oliver, of Akron, Ohio, was born on April 8, 1935 and passed away on January 10, 2022 at the age of 86.
He was born in Akron to Paul James and Marguerite Gordon was a graduate of St. Vincent High School class of 1953.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired after 30 years of service with the Akron Fire Department.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann (nee Weakland); his children, Mary Jane Weaver (Ron), Gordon Jr. (Nancy Meszaros), Michael (Julie), Julie Baker (Jay), Monica Meckler (Joe), Vincent (Jen), Thomas, and Charles; his sister, Patricia Testa (Bob); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by six siblings.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, where a Last Alarm Ceremony will be conducted by the Akron Area Retired Firefighters at 7:30 PM.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Visitation of Mary Parish, 55 Broad Street, Akron, Ohio 44305 on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Morning prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:15 AM, before processing to the church.
