Gordon Duane Vanderhoof Sr., "Gordy", age 85, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born on July 28, 1936 in Akron, the son of the late Alfred and Katherine (nee Bare) Vanderhoof.
Gordy was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gordon was a meat cutter for A&P Supermarket and Giant Eagle Supermarket for 43 years.
Gordon was also a member of the Akron Baptist Temple/Connect Church; and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Akron.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Brenda Williams, whom he married on May 11, 2000; his children, Carrie (fiancee Louis Rivera) Strittmatter; Gordon D. "Gordy" (Jennifer) Vanderhoof Jr. and Michael Vanderhoof; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his wife's brother, David (Lee) Williams and their family. Also surviving is his best friend, Phillip "Phil" (Jeanine) Sisco.
Other than his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Vanderhoof.
Funeral services will be held on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Pastor Larry Knight will celebrate Gordon's life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Good Friday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
