Gwen Elizabeth Thorpe

Gwen Elizabeth Thorpe, 68, of Hartville, passed away on December 12, 2020. Gwen was born on July 6, 1952 in Odd, West Virginia to the late William and Gertrude Walker. Gwen was employed for over 25 years at Schumacher Lumber until its closing. Her many co-workers were like family to her. Gwen had a generous spirit and always took care of others. She loved shopping and cooking to spoil her friends and family. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Thorpe Jr.; sisters, Louise Garrett and Shirley Russell; and best friend, Diane Zeiser. She is survived by her loving children, Dennis (Pamela) Stewart, Jill (Steven) Brinkerhoff, and Karen (Darrell) Weaver and their father, George Stewart; brothers, Robert (Bernie) Walker and William Walker; grandchildren, Kyle, Logan, and Denison Stewart, McKenzi Brinkerhoff, and Alexa Weaver; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gwen will be privately laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
