Gwendolyn A. Arnold passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 2, 2024 at The Homestead of Hartville.
On November 24, 1950, she married Dallas Arnold. Gwendolyn loved and lived in Brimfield for over 50 years. Gwen enjoyed volunteering and giving back to her community. She held many different titles over her years; she was a former 4H Advisor, Portage County Key Leader, Assistant Superintendent of Draft Horses and office worker at the Portage County Randolph Fair for more than 40 years. Gwendolyn was also a past director of the Akron Saddle Club, Travel Aires Saddle Club, volunteer at Brimfield Community Cupboard and then retired from Kent Roosevelt High School with over 23 faithful years of service in the Special Education department as a Para Professional.
She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Gwendolyn attended Suffield Fellowship Church. She was an avid southern gospel music fan, wildlife and animal lover, especially horses and birds.
Gwendolyn is survived by her children, Deborah (George) Mulig, Linda Rollyson, Cindi (Mark) Pearce, Pamela (Jim) Holloway and Tracey (Randy Booth) Koszalka; grandchildren, Derek (Carrie) and Ryan Rollyson, Shannon (Dan) Wood, David Rhome, Tanna (Eddie) Bowers, Katherine (Ian) Cunningham, Kaylee (Marc) Lochner, Dustin Rhome, Gary Holloway, Kara and Ashley Koszalka and Dylan Rhome; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Beau Reed, Kirsten, Jersey, Dallas, Braxton, Tucker, Tenley, Carter, Kelsie, Kalle, Mason, Beau, Johanna Gwen, Zander and Ryder; great-great-grandson, Levi; and sister, Anita (Bob) Moyers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Dallas; her father and mother, Harley and Virgie Chapman; brother, Oval Chapman; and sister, Donna Craft.
A heartfelt thanks to The Homestead/Gentlebrook and Absolute Hospice (North Canton) for the love and care they provided.
Per Gwendolyn's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305) on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11am until the time of her Celebration of Life at 12pm. Pastor Jim Shuman will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Portage County Fair or the Brimfield Community Food Cupboard.
