Harold "Pete" Presley
Harold "Pete" Presley, 83, passed away on September 26, 2007, just nine weeks after his beloved wife, Clarice, to whom he was married for 60 years. Dad fought a strong battle against lung cancer but lost his will to live after losing his wife and partner. Pete retired from General Tire after 32 years of dedicated service and was a decorated World War II Army veteran. He was proud to be part of the 6th Infantry Division, 63rd Regiment Cannon Company and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, a Bronze Star Medal, an Honorable Service Pin and the Victory Medal. Pete enjoyed sharing many war stories with his family and we were always amazed by his strength and courage. Pete loved to spend time with his family and they were always his top priority. He was our pillar of strength and was a very caring and loving person. He enjoyed traveling with Clarice, shopping, music, walking, and working in his garden and garage. Dad-it breaks our hearts to lose you but we rejoice in the fact that you are in the only place you want to be and that is with Mom. We will miss you both so much and will hold our many happy memories close to our hearts. Besides his wife Clarice, he was preceded in death by son Rick. Pete is survived by children Judy Silverman, Tammy (Mark) Pinson, and Jeff (Renee) Presley; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and devoted sister-in-law Sharon Cramer. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
